Your oral health, in your hands
Here are our top tips to look after your oral health:
- Brush at least twice a day: Last thing at night and at least one other time during the day with a fluoride toothpaste.
- Children up to three years old should use a smear of toothpaste, anyone over three should use a pea-sized amount of toothpaste. Simply spit out and do not rinse after you have brushed to protect your teeth.
- Snacking: Try to limit sugary snacks to mealtimes only. Your teeth are subjected to “acid attacks” when you eat, increasing the risk of tooth decay.
- Change your toothbrush regularly: Just remember to change your medium to small headed toothbrush at least every three months or sooner if the brushes become splayed.
- Ulcers: If you have any ulcers, sore spots or changes in colour in your mouth that have been present for more than three weeks you should always seek advice from a health professional. It’s usually nothing to worry about but you should always get it checked.
